Student Research Paper Competition

The Faith Communities Today Steering Committee announces a 2016 Research Paper Competition with an award of $1,000 for the best submission.

This competition is to encourage the use of the Faith Communities Today survey databases (either the data from 2000, 2005, 2008, 2010 or 2015) for scholarly research by graduate students.

Eligibility: The competition is open to any graduate student (master’s or doctoral level) enrolled in a U.S. educational institution that uses Faith Communities Today data in a thesis, dissertation, or potential journal article. Students will be encouraged to submit their papers to a academic journal.

Timeline: This is an annual award. Papers may be submitted at any time throughout the year via email to Faith Communities Today ([email protected]), but no later than 11:59PM, May 31, in the year of the award.

Format: Theses and dissertations should be condensed to journal article length. APA style is recommended. If writing for a specific journal, that journal’s preferred style is acceptable.

Data Source: Data may be acquired from two sources: 1) By contacting David Roozen ([email protected]), which allows use of any of the datasets or 2) downloading a file from the Association of Religion Data Archives (ARDA) which have only a few of the older Faith Communities Today datasets..
